Sleepless in Symi.

After six great days in Panormitis bay we have sailed to Nissiros. Its a small volcanic island with a big crater in the middle. Tomorrow we will explore by car.

But first a few lines about the peaceful place Panormitis. Its a great anchorage in a almost landlocked bay. During our stay there were some strong NW winds of about 13 meters per sec. After mooring first stern to at the jetty we moved out to the anchourage. It seemed so calm there. But it was not and two of the nights were pretty unrestful. The place is famous for their monastary and other than that there was not much. And we scandinavians like that!

Our danish friends on their Finnsailor 36, Mumin are still with us. Or we with them for today they motored a head to this small Island. They will bee sailing on towards San Torini as they hope to reach the canals in France leading home to their home waters before the beginning of june. We spent this evening with them on the beach here with dinner and drink.  The sun set and all the five kids played on the beach. It was a good evening for S/V Mumin and La Familia .

Rolling in Rhodes.

Time passes. Days and weeks go by. And for us we have almost settled here in Rhodes town. We have met more boats with children. Among them a danish family with three boys. Big joy for Edvard and us. They have sailed the canal down threw Europe and to the Black Sea. And like us wintered in Turkey. And just like us they left early because of visa rules. The marina in Rhodes is a rolly one. Last night we had 60 knot winds. We were not the only ones to loose sleep as the boat rolled and tugged back and forth as big waves broke on the breakwater behind us.  Tomorrow we will sail to Symi. We hope the danes will follow!

Departed from Finike. Arrived in Rhodes.

After a memorable goodbye to all our friends in the marina we made a short trip to Kekova where we stopped at our usual restaurant, Hassans. With the kids a sleep Janna and I enjoyed a meal as the only customers. If we understood it right we were the first boat for a month.

Tuesday we set sail before lunch and headed west in a good sail wind. We passed our favorite Island Kastellorizo. And we were going quite fast. So fast were we going that it looked like we would be arriving Rhodes in the middle of the night. So just before darkness we reefed sails to slow us down. It was a rolly night and I was glad when we entered the breakwater and smoother waters at seven o'clock in the morning. Since then the wind has been blowing at around 20 to 25 knots and the mooring is bouncy!
